In the words of Sam Capaldi... this wine is a total #PorchPounder! I'm talking about the Fijn & Klein Sauvignon Blanc 2020!
Anyone who knows me knows I have a love-hate relationship with Sauvignon Blanc... Sancerre, lovely... Marlborough... loathe!
Having a wine where bell pepper's come in guns blazing, shooting their pyrazines up your nose while the acidity rips the enamel off my teeth is not my idea of a good time.
This wine is the opposite! It's light, gentle aromas of peach and pineapple with hints of lime zest and great minerality. Perfectly balanced acidity... it was not hard to smash the whole bottle while binging on RuPaul's #DragRace.
The grapes are 44% from Stellenbosch, 40% Elgin, and 16% CapeAgulhas, and 1,700 bottles were produced... I'm probably going to buy a few more cases, so get it while you can! :)
I did a little research on this brand, and the most significant return was the owners have a Vizsla puppy named CHENIN!!! It is crucial to know if Chenin has an Instagram account because I need to see all about this dogs' adorable life!
Zenmari Opperman created Fijn& Klein, and the range consists of two varietals, namely Fijn & Klein Sauvignon Blanc and Fijn & Klein Grenache & Cinsault (the latter of which I will be trying this week). Her husband is Schalk Opperman, winemaker at Quoin Rock... another FAVE wine producer!
You can buy the wines from their website. And TBH, at R80, this is a total steal!
**Totally not a paid endorsement, just an excellent wine! I bought this mixed case from the always lekker Piesang at Huys Wijn **
